The Programs for Students with Disabilities provides additional support to either a regular school or one of the various specialist schools for eligible students with disabilities and impairments. (Disabilities and impairments are defined by criteria based on guidelines set by the World Health Organization.)

The Program is designed to provide schools with additional support to enable this group of students to access an age-comparative educational program.

The Program is an additional program for a specific, defined student population with significant disabilities and impairments. The majority of students within this population are identified with a disability or impairment prior to commencing school or early in the school years. There are also a small number of students who, as a result of a serious illness during their school years, will require consideration for school based support under this program.

All government schools have been provided with information regarding the procedures and processes to be followed where it is considered that a child has a disability and impairment and additional support is required for adequate access to educational opportunity. Please contact the school your child is currently attending for further information.
